Emanuele Tuxedo is a family-owned formalwear rental and sales shop in downtown Elmhurst. For 50 years, the Spizzirri family has been outfitting grooms, groomsmen, prom-goers, and quinceañera celebrants in finely made tuxedos and suits. Every fitting is handled by experienced tailors, and they offer a home fitting, delivery, and pick-up service to take the stress out of formalwear for busy wedding parties. They carry contemporary and classic styles from slim-fit modern cuts to timeless black-tie ensembles, and partner with top hotels and wedding coordinators across the Chicago area.
Origin Story
The story of Emanuele Tuxedo begins in Italy, where a young Emanuele Spizzirri learned the art of tailoring at his father Pietro’s side.
In 1958, he emigrated to the United States and quickly found positions with the biggest clothiers in Chicago, honing his skills while keeping the Italian sensibility for cut and fabric his father had instilled in him.
In 1975, he and his wife Maria opened Emanuele Tuxedo, specializing in formalwear. From the beginning, he brought his son Peter into the business. Peter started at eight years old, picking pins up off the floor, and learned the trade young. Peter now runs the shop, maintaining the family atmosphere his parents created while expanding through partnerships with premier wedding venues and a signature home-fitting service.
In 2025, Emanuele Tuxedo celebrated its 50th anniversary on York Street.
