Fleet Feet is a running store in Elmhurst that opened in 2005 as Fleet Feet Chicago’s first location outside the city, serving the running community across western Cook and DuPage counties. They offer Summer, Winter, and Spring training programs out of the Elmhurst location, and Fleet Feet Running Club gathers for runs every Thursday evening. They’re also a proud sponsor of the popular 4 on the 4th race held every July.
Origin Story
Fleet Feet Chicago opened its Elmhurst location in 2005 as the company’s first expansion outside the city. The decision to come to the western suburbs made sense given the area’s deep running roots, with York Community High School producing championship cross-country and track teams for decades under legendary coach Joe Newton.
The Elmhurst location quickly became more than a shoe store, growing into a community gathering point through training programs, weekly group runs, and race sponsorships. The 4 on the 4th race, which Fleet Feet sponsors each July, has become one of Elmhurst’s signature community events.
