Origin Story
The first Gibbons Funeral Home was opened in 1935 by Tom Gibbons’ father on Chicago’s west side, at a time when funeral homes were deeply embedded in the neighborhoods they served.
The Elmhurst location followed in 1960, and a third location was established in 1973 on Chicago’s northwest side.
Through nearly nine decades, the business has remained family-owned and operated, with each generation maintaining the founding principle that funeral service is about caring for people during the worst moments of their lives.
