Verlare Cleaners is a full-service dry cleaner at 104 W. Vallette Street in Elmhurst, in business since 1961. Services include dry cleaning with same-day options, executive shirt service, leather, suede and fur cleaning, rugs and draperies, pillow cleaning, and wedding gown cleaning and preservation.
Origin Story
Richard Verlare, a 2nd generation dry cleaner originally from Sheboygan, Wisconsin, founded Verlare Cleaners in 1961, opening his first plant in Franklin Park, Illinois.
After more than a decade of success there, he expanded to Elmhurst in 1974, starting out of a small house on York Road before eventually building a full-service dry cleaning facility at the current location on W. Vallette Street. More than 60 years later, the business remains a fixture in the Elmhurst community.
