Playa Bowls

What it is: Superfruit bowl shop specializing in acai, pitaya, and smoothies
Playa Bowls is bringing beach vibes and superfruit bowls to Elmhurst!
This fast-growing national chain (over 200 locations and counting) started as a blender, a patio table, and a dream in Belmar, New Jersey, and has become the go-to spot for acai bowls, pitaya (dragonfruit) bowls, smoothies, cold-pressed juices, and cold brew.
Their menu features over 40 items including acai, pitaya, mango, green, and coconut bowls topped with fresh fruit, granola, nut butters, and superfoods like chia seeds, goji berries, and cacao nibs.

Maple & Yolk

Maple & Yolk is a breakfast, brunch, and lunch restaurant inspired by Parisian mornings and slow brunch rituals. Their menu is made from scratch with no preservatives, non-GMO ingredients, and organic menu items.

Zodiac Cafe

Zodiac Cafe is a health-focused coffee shop at 112 W. Park Ave. in Elmhurst!
They have arguably the most beautiful coffee shop space in town. Zodiac focuses on whole, real ingredients, so you won’t find any artificial sweeteners or coloring here.
They feature juices and smoothies, as well as Zodiac-themed coffee and tea drinks.
They also have a food menu featuring smoothie bowls, toasts, and salads. The bright, open space serves drinks in glass and ceramic, with a back patio coming soon!
Candycopia

Candycopia opened its second location (the first is in Oak Park) and it’s a candy lover’s dream! Designed for adults and kids alike, they feature over 250+ candies including Swedish Pick-and-Mix, international treats, freeze-dried candy, TikTok trending sweets, and chocolates from local Chicago-area chocolatiers!
Plus, they have a Dirty Soda Bar where you can order custom sodas with flavor shots (try the Princess Peach!) or opt for Loaded Waters made with sparkling water instead. You can also build your own gummy mix, browse bulk candy, or sign up for monthly candy subscriptions.
Quad Edge Pizza

Pronto Italian Sandwiches

Pronto Italian Sandwiches brings authentic Italian flavors to Elmhurst with their signature schiacciata bread, a traditional Tuscan flatbread that’s crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, made fresh daily and hand-pressed in house. Think of it as focaccia’s slimmer, crunchier cousin!
This is Pronto’s fourth location (they also have spots in Hinsdale, Des Plaines, and Naperville), and they’re bringing their full menu of gourmet Italian sandwiches made with local and imported Italian ingredients. They also offer gluten-free bread, salads, soups, and catering for events.

The Pride

Tired of running to five different places just to get through your day? The Pride is your new one-stop shop! This locally-owned chain is totally different from your typical gas station convenience store.
You can grab premium coffee in the morning from their Pride Cafe (they use locally roasted beans from Modest Coffee). Swing back at lunch for a hot pressed panini or a fresh crepe made right there.
Need a quick afternoon pick-me-up? They’ve got Smoodi smoothies and TCBY frozen yogurt. Running late and didn’t have time to pack a lunch?
No problem! They have ready-to-go sandwiches and fruit cups perfect for busy days. And at the end of the week (or a long day), pick up a bottle of wine or craft beer from their curated selection.
It’s basically a coffee shop, lunch spot, and convenience store all rolled into one!

What it is: Asian-inspired build-your-own
A new spot called Wok+ is moving into the old Aunt Tina’s Kitchen location at 582 W. Lake Street, right next to the Power Market.
Through the grapevine, I’ve heard that Wok+ is shaping up to be a Panda Express-style restaurant. What I’m assuming that means is a build-your-own bowl or plate concept, where you pick your base of rice or noodles and pair it with a variety of Asian-inspired entrees.
Their tagline, “Wok’d Your Way,” pretty much seals the deal, so I’m fairly confident the rumors are true!
Naansense
Expected Opening: July 2026
Location: 116 N York St, Elmhurst, IL
What it is: Indian street food and cuisine

Naansense is bringing their playful take on Indian street food to Elmhurst!
Founded by longtime friends Hiran (H) and Viral (V) Patel, Naansense was born from their shared love of cooking, their childhoods steeped in traditional Indian culture while growing up in Chicago in the ’80s, and their travels through India where they discovered the magic of street food carts.
And here’s the best part: for every meal purchased at Naansense, they fund a school meal for a child living in poverty in India. They call it “One Feeds Two,” making lunch twice as satisfying. Naansense already has a location in Chicago, and we’re excited to welcome them to Elmhurst soon!
Dipsy Desserts
Opening: Summer 2026
Location: 539 Spring Road, Elmhurst

Dipsy Desserts is opening a brick-and-mortar ice cream shop on Spring Road! This husband-and-wife team has been serving Elmhurst since 2017 with their ice cream cart service for weddings and events, plus ice cream-making parties and classes at their Elmhurst kitchen.
They source their dairy from Sandwich, Illinois and make all of their ice cream flavors in-house right here in Elmhurst. Soon, you’ll be able to walk into their new shop and get their homemade, small-batch ice cream anytime you want!
Currently, you can still book their ice cream cart service or sign up for ice cream-making classes while you wait for the storefront to open.
Jayne Boutique
Expected Opening: June or July 2026

What it is: Women’s clothing, shoes, and accessories boutique

Jayne Boutique is expanding to Elmhurst! This local Chicagoland boutique chain has been around since 2012 with locations in Glen Ellyn, La Grange, Oak Park, Forest Park, and Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.
The boutique was named after founder Craig Cohen’s grandmother Jayne, a woman with her own innate sense of style who stayed tough in a man’s world and succeeded. You’ll find brands like Free People, Kut from the Kloth, UGG, and more, along with jewelry, handbags, and gifts.
Jayne is known for their exceptional customer service and creating a welcoming, individualized shopping environment. If you’re looking for a perfect fit, seasonal staples, or statement outfits for special events, Jayne makes it delightful, easy, and fun.
