It’s been a while, so here’s an update on all the construction at Berens Park! ????️
Berens Park is in the middle of two big projects!
Let’s start with the tennis courts since those are almost done! All 12 courts are being rebuilt from the ground up, with new light poles moved outside the fence area, a new promenade, fresh fencing, and brand new shade structures. Construction is expected to wrap up this month!
Then there’s the new Wagner Community Center, which is a much bigger undertaking at $85 million.
When it’s finished, the Wagner Center will have a free three-lane walking track, a gymnasium for pickleball, basketball, and volleyball, an artificial turf field, bigger dance and gymnastics spaces, an indoor play area for kids, and dedicated preschool spaces!
I’ll be honest though, right now it just looks like a giant pile of dirt (because that’s exactly what it is!). But everything’s on track for completion in 2027. Don’t expect much to look at yet, but things are moving, and I’ll keep you posted!

It's been a while, so here's an update on all the construction going on at Berens Park. If you're new here, my name's Amara, and I do video marketing for small businesses, and I keep up on all things Elmhurst, so you don't have to.
If you haven't been by in a while, Berens Park is in the middle of two big construction projects: a full tennis court replacement and a brand-new community center.
Let's start with the tennis courts, because these are almost done. All 12 courts are being rebuilt from the ground up, with new light poles moved outside the fence area, plus a new promenade area, fencing, and brand-new shade structures. Construction is expected to wrap up this month.
Then there is the brand-new Wagner Community Center, which is a much bigger undertaking. It's a $95 million project. When it's all done, the Wagner Center will have a free three-lane walking track, a gymnasium for pickleball, basketball, and volleyball, an artificial turf field, bigger dance and gymnastics spaces, an indoor play area for kids, and dedicated preschool spaces.
Right now, though, I'm going to be honest with you, it just looks like a giant pile of dirt. And that's because that's what it is! But they are right on track with everything expected to be completed in 2027. So, don't expect much to look at yet, but things are moving, and I'll keep you posted as soon as they come together.
