Hey, Elmhurst! Did you know the Wagner Center just closed for a major renovation project? The facility's final day was October 19th, and then it closed for construction on Monday. But don't worry, most programs relocated to other Park District buildings this fall.
Here's why this project is so exciting, though. They're completely rebuilding the Center into something incredible. They're gonna have a free, three-lane walking and jogging track, a full gymnasium for pickleball, basketball, and volleyball, plus an artificial turf field for soccer, baseball, and football. There'll also be larger dance and gymnastics spaces, flexible multipurpose spaces for gatherings and programs, an indoor play area for kids, and dedicated preschool and early childhood spaces with a secure entrance.
So, currently, what's next up for the project is demolishing the building, which will be done this year, and starting construction with an expected completion date in 2027.
