Location: Spring Road Business District
Route: Kicks off at Wilson Street & Spring Road, heads north for one glorious mile, and wraps up just south of St. Charles Road
The Elmhurst St. Patrick’s Day Parade is a mile-long stretch of Spring Road that transforms into an emerald-green party zone. Thousands of people line the streets, kids scramble for candy, and our whole town is just radiating pure joy. It’s chaotic in the best possible way.
What Makes This Parade So Darn Good?
Look, I’ve been to a lot of parades. Some are sleepy small-town affairs where three firetrucks roll by and everyone goes home. This is NOT that.
The Elmhurst St. Patrick’s Day Parade is the second-largest in the entire state (only Chicago’s massive downtown parade beats us).
Here’s why it’s worth it:

☘️ Small-town heart, big-time energy – This isn’t some corporate-sponsored parade. It’s YOUR neighbors on those floats. Your kid’s soccer coach. The guy who makes your morning coffee. That’s what makes it special.

Pro Tips to Have the BEST Time at the Parade!
🍀 Get there EARLY – By 11am, most prime spots are taken. So, if you want a good view, don’t roll up at 11:58am.
🍀 Wear green (obviously) – But also: layers. The weather could be a toss-up. I’ve gone when it’s 60° and sunny…and other years when it’s 32° and drizzly. So, dress accordingly.
🍀 Park smart or skip the car – Parking is a nightmare. There, I said it. You’re going to have to park a few blocks away from the main route. Still, I recommend Ubering, carpooling, or if you live nearby, just walking. Your stress levels will thank you.
🍀 Bring some green (a.k.a. cash) – Some bars and vendors are cash-only, so just be prepared with a little extra green!
🍀 Support local businesses – The shops and restaurants along Spring Road are the backbone of this community. Buy drinks, grab lunch, tip well. Some bars/restaurants even have tables outside, so you can grab some quick treats before and during the parade!
🍀 Stake out your bar early – If you have a favorite bar, claim your spot BEFORE the parade ends. By the time it ends, everywhere is slammed (maybe even you).
🍀 Bring the whole crew – It’s truly a great time for all ages! Kids love the candy and floats. Adults love the beer and camaraderie. Dogs love the attention. Everyone wins.
